Americans fall behind science belief

You know how the US is supposed to be an enlightened nation, one with people who understand science, and the way things are? A nation built around education and a separation of church and state. Well apparently those lines are fuzzier than ever thanks to a poll done by National Geographic in which the US scores quantitatively poorer in accepting evolution then other Western countries.

Out of over 30 polled countries only one had less trust in the theory of evolution and that was Turkey. You know, the country that had wide spread bird flu because they walk through feces. (note: Turkey is actually a really nice place assuming you evade stepping in chicken droppings)

Countries of note that scored above us, I'll hit the good ones, Romania (historically full of superstitious gypsies), Bulgaria (see: Romania), and Croatia.

How can we as a civilized nation believe in things like Creationism and Scientology (the name is dangerously misleading) more then tried and true science theory. Heck, I'd accept another rational argument, a scientific theory other than evolution over the invisible man and science fiction.

I guess it's time to move to Sweden, they believe in piracy, partying, and evolution.
