New York Game Developers speak out against Video Game Legislation
As a forward I believe that it's very important for all enlightened and educated members of society to keep track of the laws their local governments are attempting to pass. We are ultimately the deciding factor in how our country is run, but unfortunately people tend to treat local government with a level of quiet neglect.
Recently there has been a wave of video game bills passed quietly through NY legislation, quiet because they won't make it known, and we as the populace don't keep track.
There was a bill being deliberated on yesterday that would make it a felony for retailers to sell some games to minors. While I don't believe the games should be sold to kids, it's not a felony to sell alcohol and pornographic movies to the same child. Video games should be held in the same regard as all entertainments, from movies to music and in turn should not suffer from different regulations on sale.
Well thankfully some individuals spoke up, namely Guha and Karthik Bala, President and CEO respectively of Vicarious Visions, a video game developer recently bought by Activision based out of the Albany area.

Thanks for trying to get our voice heard guys, perhaps our nation's 20 and 30 somethings will read this and take a more active role in our political system.
